The Investment Offer
The Manatee opportunity is compelling due to the potential of the assets, their ability to yield greater returns based on the expertise of the management team, and the insatiable market demand for seafood. The growth plan sees the Company capitalize on its positioning, increase its tonnage after additional investment to the site. CA$5M is sought for up to a 10% equity into Manatee Holdings giving investors access to the fishing and aquaculture companies. This provides sufficient funding to enable Manatee to execute its growth strategy and have sufficient working capital to cashflow the business. Global Seafood Production and Consumption
Global consumption of seafood has risen from 10kg per person in 1960 to 19.7kg per person in 2013 due to:
Increasing demand globally with aquaculture filling the supply gap
Emerging economies are becoming large consumers of fish and seafood. In the chart below, aquaculture represents a growing percentage of total fish production. In 2014, fish harvested from aquaculture amounted to 73.8 million tonnes, with an estimated first-sale value of US$160.2 billion, including 16.1 million tonnes of mollusks (US$19 billion).
Almost all fish produced from aquaculture are destined for human consumption, although by-products may be used for non-food purposes.
World aquaculture production of fish accounted for 44.1% of total production (including for non-food uses) from capture fisheries and aquaculture in 2014, up from 42.1% in 2012 and 31.1% in 2004. All continents have shown a general trend of an increasing share of aquaculture production in total fish production. This uptrend is predicted to continue to 2030.
With capture fishery production relatively static since the late 1980s, aquaculture has been responsible for the impressive growth in the supply of fish for human consumption. Growth in the global supply of fish for human consumption has outpaced population growth in the past five decades, increasing at an average annual rate of 3.2 percent in the period 1961– 2013, double that of population growth, and this has been possible due to aquaculture production. However, there are ample growth opportunities as many Asian countries are still experiencing a deficit in, or inconsistent, seafood supply.
